As the BC Restart Plan lays out guidelines for bringing us back together safely, the City of Colwood is striving to create community connections by encouraging residents to head out and enjoy our spectacular natural surroundings.

One way we're doing this is by inviting local musicians to perform and vendors to offer food for sale in parks and at the waterfront, where there is abundant space to enjoy the benefits of outdoor social connections in the beauty of our natural surroundings.

We're so excited to begin safely gathering together once again. To celebrate we'd love to hear your stories from attending community events this summer. Vote in the poll below and drop share your story of how these events have helped bring your friends and family together, we'd love if you included a photo or two as well!

    Our summertime favourite!

by Noreen, over 2 years ago

We love Music in the Park so much that we plan our week around it. It’s marked in our calendar and I’ve got to know all the bands. It’s just wonderful to enjoy the fresh air, the beautiful parks, meet new people & the MUSIC! We like how each band brings a different flavour & we also enjoy the varied locations. We’ve discovered hidden gems in our neighborhood, we can’t wait to hike & explore these parks further.

Well done City of Colwood. We applaud you! Just another reason why we love living here. Music is universal, heals all woes... Continue reading

Its a great idea for sure!

I think it is great to have some music for people that is close by and in their neighborhood.

My worry is that using City funds to host these events does not leverage other funding sources such as Provincial & Federal as well as other non profit organizations in our community that could take on this initiative. In other communities of this size many times a volunteer in the community organizes and delivers events such as this.

There seemed to be many music in the park events this summer. Maybe cut back to half of what was done this year... Continue reading

    COVID still making things tough

A bit hesitant to attend public gatherings still, even outdoors. That delta variant is a bit concerning. Autumn is looking more promising.

    Happy surprise!

by Dutchdogs, over 2 years ago
My husband and I attended the music on the beach last night (Late Shift playing) and what a wonderful surprise evening it was; we met new people, had a snack, heard some great 50s and 60s tunes, and even got up dancing! That was the best! Kicking up some sand while enjoying music, beach, laughter, song. Hope this event continues in summers to come. Rose and Murray
