The City of Colwood is committed to fostering vibrant and inclusive community spaces that serve the needs and interests of our residents. As part of this commitment, Colwood Council recently passed a motion to explore the feasibility of establishing an off-leash dog park in the green space adjacent to Mendez Place.
Colwood's Parks & Recreation Master Plan includes several recommendations related to dogs, including enhancements to Colwood Creek Park and establishment of several on-leash areas. Check out the plan at www.colwood.ca/ParksPlanning
Gathering community input
We recognize the importance of involving residents early in the process to ensure your perspectives and feedback are heard and considered. At this stage, the proposal is in the exploratory phase, and no decisions have been made. We are reaching out to inform you of this initiative and invite your input.
What’s being considered
Potential designation of a section of the park area near Mendez Place as an off-leash dog park.
Assessments of site suitability, access, safety, noise, and maintenance requirements.
Proposed location
The proposal is to use a section of the park space off Mendez Place and Metchosin Road (Google Map Link)
