Letter to neighbours on Kelly, Adye and Metchosin Roads

Dear Neighbour:

Re: Kelly Road, Ayde Road and Metchosin Road active transportation upgrades scheduled for construction in Summer 2022

We’re planning to upgrade the road corridor in your neighbourhood!

Improvements are planned along Kelly Road, Ayde Road and Metchosin Road to improve pedestrian and cycling access. This is one of the projects in the City’s ongoing program of active transportation upgrades planned over the next 10 years and beyond.

The preliminary plans for the Kelly Road, Ayde Road and Metchosin Road upgrades may include:

  • Raised concrete sidewalks on one side of Kelly Road from Sooke Road to Metchosin Road by Herm Williams Park (*adjusted scope) tying into existing sidewalks
  • Bikeway treatments on Metchosin Road and Ayde Road between Sooke Road and Hatley Memorial Gardens
  • Potential for streeetscape enhancements, roadway widening, drainage improvements and boulevard restoration

These improvements are important for the many pedestrians and cyclists travelling to and from the Galloping Goose Trail and to enhance the connectivity for active transportation throught the City and greater community.

In order to start the designs of the upgrades, the City would like to hear your thoughts, concerns and suggestions in ways we can design the upgrades and accommodate you needs throughout construction.
