Help shape the future of Herm Williams Park

Created with community input, Colwood's first Parks & Recreation Master Plan was created in 2021 to protect and enhance Colwood's entire parks, trails and recreation system. From that, a series of Park Management Plans have been developed to guide recommended actions in specific areas.

A Park Management Plan is being developed now for Herm Williams Park to guide how this well-loved community park evolves over the years ahead. The plan will establish a long-term vision for the park and help guide future improvements to its amenities, accessibility, natural areas and gathering spaces.

About Herm Williams Park

Herm Williams Park on Kelly Road features a shaded playground surrounded by old growth trees and an open grassy area, paved walking paths, picnic tables and sheltered seating, a multi-use ball hoop, lighting, nearby parking recently upgraded for electric vehicles, and transit access. Improvements already in the works

1. New Playground Equipment
   In May 2026, Colwood Council approved the replacement of the aging playground equipment in Herm Williams Park. Installation of the new playground equipment was completed in Summer 2026, providing kids and families an enhanced, peaceful place to play in a shaded area.
2. Two-stall public washroom
   Planned for Fall 2026 completion

What could the plan consider?

The Park Management Plan will establish a long-term vision for Herm Williams Park and help guide future improvements, amenities and investment.

As part of the planning process, we're looking at opportunities to:

• enhance recreational amenities and gathering spaces
• improve accessibility, safety and connections throughout the park
• preserve and manage trees and natural areas
• improve picnic areas, seating and park furnishings
• consider nature play and other recreational opportunities
• plan for parking and access
• support climate-resilient landscaping and infrastructure
• create a welcoming space in support of a growing and diverse community
