As an outcome of the Parks & Recreation Master Plan, we are developing Park Management Plans starting with Colwood Creek Park, Lookout Lake Park, and Ocean View Park. These long-term strategic documents will help guide future park infrastructure upgrades, environmental considerations, and recreational use. The process is underway and we want to hear from you!

The Park Management Plans will:

  • Develop a vision and guiding principles for each park
  • Explore our community’s hopes, desires, and concerns for the parks
  • Review and analyze existing conditions
  • Build upon the ideas and directions identified in the Parks and Recreation Master Plan (PRMP)
  • Develop illustrative concept plans for each park
  • Provide a recommendation and action summary that outlines steps to complete park improvements, including priority projects for future detailed design and construction

Thank you for your help in shaping how our community grows and the future of our community's parks, trails and recreation programs. We appreciate your participation!

    July - August 2021

    • In-person engagement events took place in each park during the month of July. The community was presented with several information boards and shared their thoughts with sticky notes and sticky dots.
    • An online questionnaire for each park was open for comments until August 13. We had over 350 participants complete online questionnaires

Feedback from the in-person engagement events as well as the questionnaires will help provide insight while the draft Park Management Plans are being drafted. In late August, we will begin reaching out for your feedback once again to gather your thoughts and feedback! Subscribe for project updates and follow us on social media @CityofColwood to get all the updates!

June 29, 2021 - Discussions about the Park Management Plans kicked off with Parks walks with Gord + Gord, Colwood Parks Foreman Gord Beauvillier and Councillor Gordie Logan. Both Gords heard about your experience of our local parks, answered questions, shared information and talked about what the future holds for parks and trails in Colwood as outlined in the City's new Parks & Recreation Master Plan. Click to see what we heard at each Park Walk and watch the video below to meet Gord Beauvillier and get some insight into the Parks Walks.
