Council was provided with an update on the Park Management Planning process at the December 6 Committee of the Whole meeting. During this meeting, Council was briefed on the engagement summaries from Phase 2 and next steps were identified.
Community input and feedback from Phase 2 will inform the refinement and further development of the Park Management Plans during Phase 3. Draft Park Management Plans for Colwood Creek, Lookout Lake, and Ocean View Parks will be shared with Council in early 2022. Following Council review, the draft plans will be referred to stakeholders and provided to the public for review and comment. Input will be used to finalize the plans. It is anticipated Park Management Plans will return to Council for consideration and endorsement in March 2022.

July - August 2021
In-person engagement events took place in each park during the month of July. The community was presented with several information boards and shared their thoughts with sticky notes and sticky dots.
An online questionnaire for each park was open for comments until August 13. We had over 350 participants complete online questionnaires
Feedback from the in-person engagement events as well as the questionnaires will help provide insight while the draft Park Management Plans are being drafted. Review the presentation Council received to get a great overview of Phase 1. In October, we will begin reaching out for your feedback once again to gather your thoughts and feedback! June 29, 2021 - Discussions about the Park Management Plans kicked off with Parks walks with Gord + Gord, Colwood Parks Foreman Gord Beauvillier and Councillor Gordie Logan. Both Gords heard about your experience of our local parks, answered questions, shared information and talked about what the future holds for parks and trails in Colwood as outlined in the City's new Parks & Recreation Master Plan. Click to see what we heard at each Park Walk and watch the video below to meet Gord Beauvillier and get some insight into the Parks Walks.
